Iconic Wayfinding Design for the NEO Complex in Munich

The Vienna based CA Immo has received the planning permission for the luxurious multifunctional NEO complex in the Baumkirchen Mitte district with the total area of 124,000 sqm that they are currently developing in Munich.

With its unique architecture, the NEO building, designed by UNStudio, Amsterdam, forms the striking prelude to this emerging neighbourhood. Its 60 metre tall office tower with a gross floor area of some 8,500 sqm is going to become a new landmark in the Eastern part of the Bavarian capital. Six floors of the building will be occupied by the Hampton by Hilton hotel with 143 rooms, complemented by a residential segment comprising 55 top notch apartments.

HardCase Design office, Berlin, is responsible for the design of the wayfinding system. This covers the two level underground parking, entrance lobbies and common use spaces for residential and office areas, and also includes outdoor signage.

Dmitri Lavrow, head of HardCase Design, feels comfortable with the high expectations on the side of the client:

"The project is very ambitious, indeed. We are confronted with world class architectural design, which we are committed to live up to with our bespoke graphic and typographic style. This gives us a chance to merge functional wayfinding modules into interior design elements rather than just come up with add-ons. We are especially happy that our client is prepared to leave the beaten track - for instance, they are showing great interest in visual enhancement of the underground parking.

Seoul International Invitational Exhibition

Dirk Ostmann and his design office MANOEUVRE ORANGE have accepted the invitation of the Korean Society of Basic Design & Arts for the fourth time and will exhibit a selection of his design projects at the Seoul International Invitational Exhibition from 6 to 12 May 2017 in the Hangram Art Museum, Seoul Art Center. Previously, his works were presented to the professional public in 2016 at the Instituto Europeo di Design in Barcelona, in 2015 in Seattle and in 2014 in San Francisco and Seoul.

Wayfinding design for the Mercedes Platz in Berlin

Along the River Spree, around today's Mercedes-Benz Arena (formerly O2 World), an area of superlatives for sports, games and entertainment is being created. The associated Berlin office HardCase Design, headed by Dmitri Lavrow, is responsible for planning the navigation of the approximately 20 million visitors expected annually to the future Mercedes Platz, which will connect the arena with the banks of the Spree. A wayfinding, navigation and information system will also be designed for the entire area of the 'East Side District', which covers almost 700,000 sqm. The client is the 'Anschutz Entertainment Group Development', owner and developer of the Mercedes-Platz complex.

Wayfinding design for Städtische Werke Magdeburg

Junk & Reich Architects from Weimar/Germany commissioned HardCase Design, Berlin, with the wayfinding design for the headquarters of the Städtische Werke Magdeburg (public utilities operator). The new building, consisting of a block and a twelve-storey tower, with a total area of almost 23,000 square metres, will be erected at a significant urban location—on the site of the oversized prefabricated building known as the 'Blauer Bock', which dominated the centre of Magdeburg between 1967 and 2016. The project is scheduled to close in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Wayfinding Concept for the WILO Campus in Dortmund

As part of the Campus 2020 location development programme, WILO SE intends to efficiently combine new administrative and production facilities at their traditional location in Dortmund, Germany. The WILO group of companies is a worldwide leading manufacturer of pumping equipment for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, water supply and sewage. With an area of over 190,000 square metres, the WILO Campus is the largest private construction project in the history of the city of Dortmund. Our associated office HardCase Design in Berlin was commissioned to create an integral modular wayfinding concept.

UX/UI for non-affine users

The German software developer SVORM Mobile IT is specialized in the development of administration software. From mobile time recording and automated payroll accounting to semi-automated construction site management. Dirk Ostmann, director of MANOEUVRE ORANGE, comments: ''The task was to design a rugged-looking uniform graphical user interface for different software applications as well as non-affine user and age groups which can be quickly learned without software training and which is also very easy and intuitive to use.''
